Asbestos Reinspection Survey Liverpool — check what has changed since the asbestos register was created
A Reinspection Survey reviews the current condition of known or presumed asbestos-containing materials already recorded in an existing survey or asbestos register. It does not automatically search for new concealed asbestos or replace a Refurbishment Survey before intrusive work.

How often should asbestos be reinspected?
The interval should be based on risk, including condition, accessibility, likelihood of disturbance and the dutyholder’s management arrangements. Reviews should also be brought forward when damage, works or building use changes.
Is a Reinspection Survey the same as a new Management Survey?
No. Reinspection primarily reviews materials already recorded. If existing records are incomplete or the building scope has changed, additional survey work may be needed.
Can a reinspection be used before refurbishment?
Not automatically. Reinspection does not normally provide the intrusive information required for building fabric that will be altered. A Refurbishment Survey may still be required.
What records should I provide?
Provide the current asbestos register, previous surveys and reinspections, removal or repair records, incident information and details of any changes to layout or building use.
Can a reinspection replace a survey before refurbishment?
No. Reinspection reviews known or presumed ACMs already recorded. Intrusive refurbishment requires suitable information for every element within the work boundary.
What if the existing asbestos register is incomplete?
ASM can review the records and advise whether a new Management Survey, targeted inspection or another survey route is needed before a reliable reinspection can be completed.
Does the report update photographs and actions?
The agreed output can update condition, material and priority information, photographs, recommendations and the working asbestos register.
Who should see the updated register?
People who plan, authorise or carry out work that could disturb the recorded materials should receive or be given access to the relevant current information.
