UKAS-accredited inspection and testing, with the scope kept clear

Asbestos Surveying and Monitoring Ltd holds UKAS accreditation number 32982 for defined inspection activities to ISO/IEC 17020 and testing activities to ISO/IEC 17025. The current schedules define the accredited activities and locations. Bulk asbestos identification is undertaken at the Sunderland laboratory.

Accreditation applies to the organisation and its defined activities. Asbestos removal, preparation of management plans, watching briefs and soil remediation are not described as UKAS-accredited work.

Compare like with like

A useful quotation states exactly what is included

The lowest headline price is only meaningful where survey depth and inclusions are comparable.

Inspection scope

Survey type, buildings, floors, rooms, work areas, external elements and outbuildings.

Sampling & access

Representative sampling, high-level access, isolation and destructive-opening requirements.

Reporting

Expected report format, photographs, plans, turnaround and client-specific data requirements.

Oxford cost drivers

Why two Oxford properties of the same size can have different prices

  • survey type
  • property size and layout
  • historic conversions or extensions
  • occupation and escorts
  • high-level or restricted access
  • sampling requirements
  • programme and turnaround
The cheapest survey is poor value if the report does not cover the work you intend to undertake.

For refurbishment or demolition, send drawings and the proposed work boundary before accepting the quote.
Oxford property and project context

Oxford survey budgets: access and scope before floor area

Several buildings, one estate instruction

A compact estate may still involve numerous entrances, keys, escorts and room references. Send a building schedule and indicate which spaces can be inspected together. Separate the base inspection from any revisits caused by rooms that remain unavailable. An estate price is only comparable when the same buildings, sampling assumptions and reporting format are included.

Intrusion into older altered fabric

Investigating a simple room finish differs from tracing services through several generations of partitions or ceilings. For an Oxford refurbishment, provide marked-up plans and explain whether decorative or protected fabric limits opening-up. Agree who arranges permissions, isolations and making good; these practical requirements can matter more to the quotation than a headline property size.

Term dates and occupied access

A planned access slot can be affected by residential occupation, research activity, visitors or contractor permits. Confirm which rooms will actually be available and whether intrusive areas can be vacated. Tell ASM about split visits or out-of-hours requirements before comparing prices. National guide figures do not include an assumed Oxford access surcharge or a guaranteed local rate.

A survey quotation should answer these questions

Confirm the deliverables when agreeing the commission, then review the information against the actual property or work scope.

  • Which survey type, buildings, rooms and external structures are included?
  • How are representative sampling, laboratory analysis and additional suspect materials priced?
  • Who provides keys, escorts, isolation, specialist access and any required vacancy?
  • What reporting, drawings, turnaround, VAT and return-visit assumptions apply?

If a location, quantity or assumption is unclear, resolve it before the relevant maintenance or construction stage. Keep reports and completion evidence together so the next contractor can understand what was assessed, what changed and what still needs attention.

A comparable Oxford survey quotation needs these assumptions

  • The survey type and whether the price covers one address or several buildings.
  • Sampling and laboratory-analysis inclusions, with the basis for any additional charges.
  • Access, escorts, out-of-hours visits, intrusive openings and making-good responsibilities.
  • Plans, report format, turnaround agreement and treatment of inaccessible areas or revisits.

Oxford and surrounding Oxfordshire enquiries

Discuss projects in central Oxford, Headington, Cowley, Iffley, Jericho, Summertown, Marston, Botley and Wolvercote. For locations outside the city, including Kidlington, Abingdon, Witney, Bicester and Didcot, provide the exact postcode and service required so attendance and programme can be confirmed. An Oxford enquiry does not assume the same access or building conditions at every Oxfordshire address.

Asbestos Survey Cost Oxford FAQs

Is asbestos sampling included in a survey price?

Representative sampling is normally undertaken where required within the agreed survey strategy. The quotation should state the sampling arrangements.

Can ASM provide a fixed written survey quote?

Yes. A project-specific quotation can be prepared once the property, survey purpose, access, planned works and reporting requirements are clear.

Are these confirmed Oxford survey prices?

No. The figures are current ASM national budgeting guides. An Oxford quotation depends on the property, purpose, access, sampling and reporting requirements, with the agreed inclusions confirmed in writing.

How do I arrange a written quotation?

Send the site address, purpose of the enquiry, photographs, existing asbestos information, relevant plans and target dates. ASM will confirm the appropriate scope and the information needed to price the work.

Is there an ASM laboratory in Oxford?

ASM’s accredited bulk-analysis laboratory is at Sunderland headquarters. Oxford is a service area; use the published ASM contact details to arrange attendance or laboratory submission.

Will an Oxford college vacation automatically make a survey cheaper?

No. The price depends on the actual access and inspection requirements. Buildings may remain occupied or operational outside teaching periods. Confirm available rooms, escorts and any repeat visits so the quotation reflects the real programme.

Are conservation-related permissions included in the survey price?

Do not assume this. Identify the fabric affected and agree who obtains any necessary permissions, organises opening-up and makes good. The written quotation should state the assumptions and responsibilities for your project.

Can I enquire about a site outside Oxford city?

Yes. Send the postcode, buildings and required service for an Oxfordshire location such as Kidlington, Abingdon, Witney, Bicester or Didcot. ASM confirms attendance against the project scope, access and programme; this is not a claim of a staffed branch in each town.
